2023 Tai Tokerau Climate Action Conference

7 to 9 September at Forum North, Whangarei

The 2023 Tai Tokerau Climate Action Conference is our third conference, following the 2018 and 2021 conferences.

Registration will be open and more programme information will be available soon. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the conference will be free, so we can get as many as possible engaged in conversations about climate action.

The kaupapa of the conference is to expand the menu of solutions available to us, to learn from what is already happening, and to plan further action.

Programme overview

Day one: Presentations

Day two: Workshops

Day Three: Field trips

Days one and two will include a presentation and workshop about the Mana Kai Initiative. This looks to be a great initiative to reshape our food system to one that is more climate-friendly, provides greater opportunities for local growers, farmers, and fishers, and underpins a healthier community.

Conference kai

As food systems provide an important means of healing the climate conference catering will be using food grown, hunted, or farmed here as much as possible. We welcome ideas to help make this a reality.

  3. Kia ora Peter,

Thanks for this p?nui – when I share on Facebook, the picture of James Shaw pops up – could You put another picture there? Maybe something more neutral or local – say a picture from Our Whenua Whaama publication, or? James’ face could be off-putting.

Then I’ll share it on social media.

Great yo see you taking this initiative. It only seems like yesterday since Hon James Shaw was speaking at the NorthTec wharenui at the inaugural hui. A lot of water has flowed down the river since then. Do you want help in organizing this hui? It literally is on the eve of the elections which will be a most interesting time.
