Do you get the feeling that we have all the technical fixes we need, either at our fingertips or in the pipeline to heal the climate – but we just can’t get it together? While some of us are beavering away trying to do the right thing, there are others in the world killing, lying, cheating and amassing wealth.
To me, there is an inescapable conclusion that if we don’t get our act together we won’t heal the climate with all the consequent downsides that are already manifesting.
You may recognise the iceberg diagramme below. The behaviours I have been persuing were first techical fixes, and then nature-based solutions. I later came to the conclusion that the most important job was to communicate solutions and hope. There is an even more fundamental place to work to heal the climate. These have been called the Inner Development Goals.

The solutions to the climate and other facets of the metacrises are most likely to emerge from us refining how we connect and work with others. Otto Scharmer quotes Bill Hanover that “the success of an intervention, depends on the inner condition of the intervenor”. This calls us to re-educate ourselves in the skills of being, thinking, relating, collaborating and acting – the inner development goals.
The inner development goals
Here is an introduction.
The inner development goals show what inner shifts, or human growth need to happen in order for us to increase our chances of reaching the sustainable development goals collectively. – Jan Artem Henriksson
The five dimensions of goals are further elaborated as 23 skills.

These are fundamental human attributes that can be fostered in the playground or the boardroom. People are applying them in organisational and community settings.
There are 700 hubs in 80 plus countries. Let’s start one in Tai Tokerau. Lets work together to create the future that wants to emerge. If you are interested please comment.
This is timely, well-overdue even! Indigenous Peoples have been saying for ages that the colonising, capitalistic leadership calling the shots needs a cultural paradigm shift. To have a local hub under this initiative’s umbrella is I think a smart idea.
